Pinto copper mine near Globe. It was a welcome site on the way home. On the way to Gila Valley last Friday we took the scenic route via Winkleman and Christmas Arizona. A fatal accident at mile marker 234 just west of Miami closed the road for several hours. It was interesting to see some scenery that I have not seen for several years, and some never (Christmas). I have been to Kearny, almost Winkleman as a teen and early 20s. Dad and his brother had interest in a cattle ranch to the south of Kearny. Many picnics lead us across rope bridges, up dangerously narrow and windy roads to view a magnificent waterfall back in the wilderness. Dad used to take all out of towners there. Unfortunately the slight 1 hour detour made for a long day for the 7 of us in the car.
